Suliman Onque was born into a very artistic family. Drawing since preschool aged. Suliman entered many art and poster contest throughout his elementary school years. Suliman attended and graduated from Arts High school in the city of Newark, New jersey. He recieved an art scholarship from the Kwanis company in 1992. Suliman was presented with an award for a rendering he created for the Newark Public Library in 1994. He was featured at Essex County College for an art exhibit during Black History Month. Suliman along with his brother and fellow artist Samad Onque was featured on the front cover of the "Newark This Week" section of the Star Ledger newspaper. A story discussing his many accomplishments and upcoming art show in 2007.
Suliman collaborated with author Joan J on her children's book entitled "Its in the Book Good Ol' Friends". He has painted numerous murals at city schools, and cultural centers throughout the city of Newark, NJ, . Suliman's art was also featured in Candance Kelley's "Super Natural" hair campaign which showcased actress and comedienne Kim Coles.
His art was featured in a dual art exhibit along with fellow artist Kortez Robinson in 2012 at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick NJ. One of his prize projects is his "Become A Masterpiece" Art class which he offers to aspiring urban youth.
Suliman has expertise in various medium including oil/chalk pastel, watercolors, pen and ink, fabric and acrylic paint, and comic book illustration. He has been commissioned for portrait painting, book illustration, logo design and Adobe Photoshop rendering. He also launched the Canvaswear and BFlyy wearable art clothing lines.
His motto "if you can imagine it I can create it" speaks volumes about this artistic capabilities. Suliman's passion for art inspires him to create masterpieces of any work presented to him.
